This foldable card is fun and easy to make and can be assembled for just about any theme you need it for. It can be made in just a few easy steps.  Start with an 8x8 inch piece of cardstock.

Fold it in half.  Using a bone folder will make your creases nice and deep...giving your card a much better look.

Open your piece of paper, and turn it 90 degrees.  Fold it again in half.  Once opened, your page should have four boxes. 

Turn your paper over and fold it so that you make a large triangle. 

Open the piece of paper and turn it back over to the original side.  It's now time to decorate the inside of your card.  In the two square boxes, adhere two pieces of white cardstock.  They should measure 3 6/8 inches each.  These are the places that you could write to the recipient of your card.  However, this would also be a great place to place photos, don't you think? 



In the two remaining spaces, use stamps to finish decorating the inside of your card. 

We're now ready to close the card. To close it, bring the folded pointy edges together.  This is probably as clear as mud, but the picture below should make it much clearer.

Lay the card on its side, and we'll decorate the front. 

To begin, I ran a 3 6/8 inch piece of matching cardstock through the Big Shot using the polka dot embossing folder. 

I then taped it to the front of the card. 

Now for my favorite embellishment...ribbon!  Adding ribbon to the card will make it not only very pretty but will also keep the card closed. 

To finish the birthday card, I used stickers from a Stampin Up Simply Scrappin kit.

I believe I first got this recipe for Party Chicken from my Aunt Carolyn, and it is one of darlin Arlin's favorites.  It's a great dish to whip up quickly on a Sunday morning and put in the oven before leaving for church.  It cooks at a very low temperature for several hours.  It's then easy to heat up a couple of sides to go with it to get lunch on the table quickly for your hungry family.  Here's what you'll need to make it:

First, place Buddig Corned Beef in the bottom of a casserole dish.  You can find this meat with the lunch meats at your grocery store, but it isn't always easy to find.  Corned beef is also packaged in a glass jar and can be found on the aisle with the canned meats like tuna, canned chicken, etc.  However, if you use that kind, you'll want to rinse it thoroughly or your dish will be incredibly salty.  I speak from experience!  I much prefer the Buddig variety, because it has a milder flavor. 



Wrap a piece of bacon around each piece of chicken and lay it on top of the corned beef. 

In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream and mushroom soup.  Place that on top of the chicken.

Bake at 275 degrees for 3 hours. 

Serve with hot noodles and a green veggie. 

Party Chicken

4-6 piece of boneless skinless chicken breasts

4-6 pieces of bacon

1 package Buddig Corned Beef

8 oz. sour cream

1 can cream of mushroom soup



  

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors, and I found out today that several of her books have been made into movies for the Lifetime Channel.  I rented three of them today from iTunes, so I see a movie marathon in my future. 

I just finished her book called Keeping Faith.  Picoult did it again in that she wrote another great and captivating novel that I couldn't put down.  The research that this author puts into her books is amazing.  You won't want to miss this one!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Anything that saves me a little time is ok with me, and this product does just that.  Plus, they taste fantastic!  I know...I know...you're probably saying-seriously Rene, instant mashed potatoes?  I asked my mom the same thing when she attempted to feed them to us a couple of years ago at Thanksgiving.  Matter of fact, I turned my nose up at them as she quickly warmed them up in the microwave.  Well, I very quickly changed my mind after tasting them.  To tell you the truth, I haven't peeled a potato since!  If you sometimes run short on time like I do, you might want to give them a try! 

This is not a paid advertisement.  Just trying to help my busy friends save a little time.  

At the end of each year, the librarians in my school district compile a list of adult books that they have read and recommend.  We hope you'll take the time this summer to relax with one of these great titles.
